Real Party: NASA Astronaut Training Party

In honor of my impending move to the Space Coast of Florida, I offer you this pretty incredible space-themed party. Chelsea at Life Frosting obviously put a lot of time into thinking up all the neat details for this event from the invitation to the activities to sending the kids home.

While all the decorations and activities she planned were fabulous, I just can’t resist a really great invitation. Each guest was sent a box full of surprises. On top was the “space mission” information in a banded folder.

The inside card contained the party information, written in a pretty creative way. Kudos to you, Chelsea!
After reading the invitation (as if that wasn’t cool enough!) The invited guests got some pre-flight energy food (“Star”bursts) and a NASA logoed polo with “astronaut trainee” underneath. She even personalized the backs with each child’s name.
The party room was decorated with chinese lanterns to look like planets.
Rocket ship cookies (on a stick!) were centerpieces for the tables
See that planet hanging from the ceiling with the moon man no it? By itself, it’s kind of a neat decoration.  But guess what it is? It the BIRTHDAY CAKE! Some serious engineering had to go into that one, and I bet every one of those 5 year old boys appreciated cutting a cake that was hanging from the ceiling.
Our family is still in the controled-choas-free-for-all style birthdays that goes along with having young children, so I simply marveled at the activities she had planned for the kids. They progressed through levels that were specially planned and designed activities, including space station orientation, launch, repair, moon rock collection and a few others. At the end, the kids all got certificates for astronaut training completion. What a memory she built that day!

The trainees were all sent home with personalized tote bags with moon sand, astronaut ice cream, bottled waters and one of those super-neat rocket ship cookies. Go see ALL the incredible pictures from this party here!
