Valentines Desserts for Healthy Hearts

Valentines Desserts for Healthy Hearts

Last week, I posted over at Project Nursery about healthy Valentines desserts. There’s an abundance of sweet stuff this time of year, but with this spread, the kids won’t miss the sugar–my two were more excited about hitting this particular dessert table than any I can think of recently. And they see a LOT of dessert tables.

Maybe it was that I told them they could have as much as they want, and that they weren’t limited to one or two things? And their pure amazement at something as simple as a heart in the side of an apple made it really fun for me…and the fact that they were thrilled to bits to be eating apples and watermelon and greek yogurt has made me want to try more of these style tables! Stores are starting to come out with lots more products that make it even easier to provide beautiful dessert table set ups without overloading on unhealthy fats and sugars.

Using snacks that have a drizzle of chocolate over whole grains/good food instead of the whole chocolate bar is one way to tempt little tastebuds on a healthy Valentines desserts bar. Smoothies are also always a big hit–no matter the age! Dessert can also come in the form of a fruity parfait with some low-sugar granola. Sometimes it’s just the decoration that is the cherry on top.

Kids will eat almost anything you serve them...as long as it is served in a fun way!
