Jake and the Neverland Pirates Birthday Party

Jake and the neverland pirates birthday party

Funny as it is, my kids absolutely LOVE going to see plays, musicals, and anything else live theater. They’ve collected more ticket stubs in their short lives than I did in 30 years. When Brennan caught wind that Disney was going to do a live show of his favorite TV show, Jake and the Neverland Pirates he HAD to go. Lucky for me, it landed right on his birthday, so I was able to convince him to skip a big party this year and take his friends to the theater! We followed it up with cake and ice cream at home. And you know what? Those kids had a fabulous time, probably just as much as our previous Goldilocks, Dragon and Motorcycle parties, and the at-home party part was put together in a few hours.

In addition to some super yummy cupcake shop cupcakes (with some gluten free ones for mom and the birthday boy!) we served up ice cream in bowls and told the kids to go crazy with the topping bar we set out. Admittedly, I did go a the extra mile with the ice cream — all of it was home made. Totally worth it. Amazing chocolate, strawberry and vanilla, and I even made an adult flavored GUINNESS milk chocolate ice cream. Plus there were leftovers, and that was really exciting!

Every kid got a pirate hat or princess tiara at their place settings. Surprisingly, the adults were more delighted to wear these than the children. I did give into Brennan’s request for a piñata–which was great fun bashing to bits for the kids! And the adults watching. While the theme was Jake and the Neverland Pirates, we did our best to give the party a Jake feeling without stepping on any trademark and copyright toes while keeping things simple.

I did something a little different with the cupcake tops this time. I made pirate flags instead of circles, and I just loved how they turned out! Every cupcake also got a piece of pirate gold (chocolate coins.)

They kids all sat in rapt attention for the Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Princesses play and got into the mood by dressing up like pirates! Brennan was asked if he loved his party, and he said “Arrrrgh!”
