This was such a cute idea for a baby shower, and I was thrilled to work with Yarah Designs on completing the printables and stationery for the event. The shower was held at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the beach. I love (love!) all the florals at this party and how the theme was woven throughout. It’s also always fun to work with clients who have a bit of a sense of humor and that little bit of wit is my favorite part of any party. For Yara, we rocked the bowtie on milk bottles against aqua/turquoise and an orangy-coral.

What a view! Yarah Designs is out of Palm Beach, Florida, and you can visit her at her blog or on Facebook!

Baby shower design request most definitely seem to tilt to the girl side of things. It was great to be able to change the little PINK birdie set into a little BLUE birdie set for Liz at Long Island Style. I love how she took a few ideas in the original set, but totally made them her own!

Thanks, Liz, for sharing this beautiful shower with us!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Carolyn Horton of CHS Creative Productions to create designs to match a bedding set for an intimate shower for a family member. Although it was held during a particularly busy time for Carolyn, the sweet touches she made for the guests made it extra special for the mom-to-be. My favorite detail are the fondant toppers made by Lynlee’s Petite Cakes–so neat to see a design come to life in candy!

Thanks again to Carolyn for sharing this special party. The wild pink jungle baby shower printable set is now available in my shop!

One of my favorite customers asked for a pink birdie theme for her very dear friend’s baby shower a few months ago, and by the time we were done, the theme became one of my favorites. So when I had the opportunity to throw a baby shower for a friend, I knew exactly which design to use. These sweet little pink birdies were such a cute design for this shower, and leant themselves to lots of inspiration for decor!

The dessert table I created in a palette of soft pinks…there is just something elegant and girly about this color! My favorite part by far are the hair clips and hair bands that were made by Tara at Three Little Bows to decorate my candy jars and bird cage.

On the table were a range of desserts for all tastes…raspberry mousse with fresh whipped cream, petite fours, meringues, cupcakes, and chocolate brownie truffles. In creating menus for any of my parties–large or small–I try to keep the made from scratch items to two or three. In this case, one and a half! I made the raspberry mousse, took a shortcut on the truffles, and purchased the remainder of the items. The cupcakes I requested plain, and decorated myself with gumpaste hydrangeas from Sweet Petal Bakery.

For the savory food, a plant stand was used to uniquely present the crudites and dip. Pita chips were served in snack boxes to accompany the roasted red pepper hummus. Tiny quiches and fresh fruit rounded out the savory offerings for this mid-afternoon (and pre-superbowl!) shower.

I also like to recreate spaces in my house for special events; I’m not afraid to move furniture! We cleared out the front rooms to accommodate tables and chairs for guests to sit for games, appetizers and sweets.

In a stroke of luck, I found my collection of vintage linens that I thought I had lost in my last move. I started with those as my base layer–and then collected every white plate I could find in the house to have enough to serve all my guests. I prefer glassware and silver when I can help it! The centerpieces started with a square serving platter. I made the hydrangea flower balls using styrofoam, a Martha Stewart punch, and corsage pins.

Babycakes & Decor was gracious enough to send a little treat for the mom-to-be using the printable cupcake wrappers and toppers – burp cloths and wash clothes shaped into little cupcakes and candy shapes! The mom was delighted, and they were ridiculously cute on display. Pom Flair provided the beautiful pink pom garland that leant a perfect festive accent to the room.
The birdie paper items from this party are now available in my store!

One of my favorite stylists, Chris Nease at Celebrations at Home, recently created precious birdie baby shower for a lucky mom in Richmond. It has such a beautiful soft palette and interesting details, I find myself looking through it again and again! Thrown for a mom-to-be of twins, cute little birds were the perfect accent. The toppers are from dressed up with toppers from Bird’s Party designs.

I just love the arrangement of items on the tables; all three were different, but in the same theme.

The bird’s nest favors are so cute! See the rest of the inspiring party pictures at the Celebrations at Home website.

Love love LOVE getting pictures from my customers! I have taken far too long to post these pictures up that were sent in, but that makes me no less proud of these fabulously creative people. The first picture (above) was from a WILD baby shower sent in by Maggie. She wanted zebra prints, stripes and bright orange, pinks and lime, so we worked together to make Maggie a custom set. She made it the printables and the rest of the decor come together beautifully! The shower was around halloween so she was able to find nice white pumpkins for the floral centerpieces and set each place with a pretty little tissue pouf.

Tara from Three Little Bows had a “Peace Party” request from her daughter and wanted to match the colorful partyware Brynn had picked out. I custom created this “Peace, Love & Cupcakes set just for her! The girls at this party looked like they had so much fun, and as always, I loved the little custom touches Tara added to the party, like the cupcake tower tutu skirt, lollipop basket and stringing up the banner with tulle! And those have to be the coolest cupcakes I’ve ever seen.

And lastly, these photos from Callen just make me smile! Frog Prince Paperie provided a “How Sweet It Is” banner specially designed for this Christmastime wedding dessert display, but the rest of the styling was all on Callen! The pops of red and aqua are just beautiful, and its set off so nicely by the nearby tree.
Thanks again, ladies, for being kind enough to send in your beautiful pictures! You are all an inspiration!

Found a darling blog today called Bird Crafts. She is gathering together lots of ideas for baby showers this week, and there are quite a few. Nothing quite like a little inspiration!

I love discovering new bloggers, and I have to say
Save the Date for Cupcakes has definitely gone on my “favorites” list! She covers nothing but great dessert tables, which makes for really interesting viewing for party fanatics.
Save the Date for Cupcakes recently covered this “How Tweet it Is” themed shower by Kaysi of Fabu Weddings & Events. I love all the little details and beautiful glassware used in this display and the soft touches of color against all the white. See more pictures

In browsing around today, I ran across a few great ideas for baby showers – a fantastic boa wreath, the diaper wreath, and the napkin dress.
My friend Christina over at
Pluff Mudd Studios makes a wreath for expectant friends that absolutely fabulous! Construction is simple, but has stunning results–she wraps 2 pink feather boas around a wreath form (grapevine here) and secures it in place with a little hot glue and floral wire. This one in particular was made to match a birdie theme, and you can see the rest of the shower
here.
I’ve seen diaper cake upon diaper cake upon diaper cake…but a wreath was new to me! As you can imagine, there are some pretty spectacular diaper wreaths out there…and being a DIY kind of gal, I needed to know how to make one myself.
Creative Baby Shower Ideas lives up to its name and has a great tutorial, and lots of pictures on how to design your wreath to a theme. Or, if you don’t have the time, but you’ve got the money, there is a whole store dedicated to
diaper cakes and wreaths, like the one seen here.
And last but not least, if you love the art of napkin folding,
HowDoesShe.com has a really cute tutorial on how to make little dresses out of paper napkins.

The pink elephant baby shower turned out really nicely. It was very simple, but Erica, the mother-to-be, was really touched by the effort.
The dessert buffet had a chocolate theme…Godiva pink wrapped truffles, pink and green M&Ms, pink robin eggs, buttercream kisses, chocolate covered pretzels with pink sprinkles, and mini candy bars were offered. The display assembly was uncomplicated, but had a nice effect. I used white plates sitting on top of vases and candlesticks for height, and the pink polka dot elephant cupcake wrappers to hold candy instead of cupcakes. Add a beautiful tablecloth and a little stuffed pink elephant…and it was complete.
Did I mention the chocolate theme? Erica’s pregnancy craving seems to be brownies. I made triple-chunk chocolate brownies in cupcake wrappers and then topped them with whipped ganache frosting and chopped chocolate pieces, and then finished with a cupcake topper for some flair.
For party favors, I made chocolate sugar cookies with a big “C” monogram for the baby’s name, Caroline. They were tied off with a little “thank you” party circle.
And it’s just not a party unless there is a tissue pouf ball. We kept it to three this time over the food. You can see the tutorial on how to make these, along with those in the table arrangements
here.
Congratulations, Erica! And we can’t wait to meet your little girl!
