Peanut Butter and Jelly Jam – A Playdate Party

Peanut Butter and Jelly Jam – A Playdate Party

Do you know one of those kids that has had peanut butter and jelly in the lunchbox everyday for as far back as you can remember? Do you know a kid that no one ever has to ask ” What would you like for lunch?”

Do you have one of those kids? Or two?

Me too.

How absolutely perfect is this play date party seen in Festivities Magazine for them?  It’s a celebration of child and their most favorite thing! O.K., well at least their most favorite food.

Favorite heros and princesses change over time, but the love of PB&J is a true and lasting one.

This party will delight your little PB&J bandit. It’s simple enough to execute for the beginner party planning mom, yet stunning enough for even the most seasoned planner to be proud to host.

Clumps of purple balloons as grapes are easy as pie to assemble and can leave young guests with one of the most timeless and beloved of all party favors, the simple balloon. Streamer chandeliers are just plain fun and pretty. The classics of party decorations, streamers  and balloons, go so well with the classic sandwich.  It’s a sure hit.

My daughter turns her nose at so many different drinks options at parties, so she squealed with delight when she saw this milk bar. It’s her favorite drink AND she gets to upgrade to the coveted chocolate, now that does makes a party as far as my 4-year-old is concerned. With cute purple striped straws from Confetti Sunshine–pure bliss!

Add to that, the peanut butter and jelly bar with different kinds of nut butters and sweet topping were a hit with the kids and adults alike. I’ve never seen parents so happy to dig into a big jar of Nutella!

This photo screams ” I do it myself, Mama!”  They work so hard at being independent. I seriously don’t know who is more proud in these moments, mom and dad, or child? And how do you like those eco-friendly bamboo plates and utensils? Never to early to teach kids about being green.

I really appreciate it when I see a hostess throw a few healthy kid-favorites in the mix at a party or play date.  I am always pleasantly surprised when I see the kids dive for it, and grateful for knowing I won’t necessarily be dealing with tummy-aches on the drive home.

You can really get clever when it comes to non-candy favors.

Of course, there is always room for one or two yummy treats.

It is a party after all.

And I’ll  ALWAYS save room for cake.

That is a cake! I know!

I don’t know what you’d do, but I might just cut the pieces a bit shy on this one.  A hard working mama deserves a slice of yummy cake after the kids are in bed at the end of a busy partying day.

Just sayin’.

Wouldn’t a child just love the novelty of a cake that looks like a PB& J?

That is a memory that would last a lifetime.

Just read it on their faces.

And in the end, after all, that is what it’s all about.

Great commentary Megan. The last PBJ sandwich must have 25 weight watcher points. Probably worth it. Such imagination to take a simple thing and make it a party!

What a beautiful looking party and the post was so well written (*wink wink*). I know Megan. She's got the gift of the gab, that's for sure.

Love your work Megan!
