St. Patrick’s Day Easy Home Decor

As I mentioned in my last post, St. Patrick’s Day isn’t an over-the-top decorated holiday for most people, including me. Leprechauns are a little more hostile than Santa, and there is a reason that kids try to catch them in traps rather than feed them cookies. That being said, I did want to make the house a little festive for the kids before we start veering towards Easter.

I seriously did four little things that each only took a few minutes to do to put a little more Irish into our St. Patrick’s Day easy home decor.

I absolutely LOVE this chalkboard my husband made me.

I first used it in the Coffee and Cravings baby shower if you don’t remember it! It’s been fun changing the art on it for whatever is going on in that room. Not to mention, it’s effectively a free decoration! A little hand-lettering and it was done. Of course, my daughter couldn’t keep away from it, so she added her own shamrock on the right side of the board.

Mason Jars + Grocery Store Flowers

Next, I added a few green mason jars filled with baby’s breath I bought at the grocery store and tied a piece of ribbon around the necks that had a St. Patrick’s Day inspired pattern. The other greenery on the buffet is there all year ’round, but it’s coloring certainly fit in perfect with this little project.

Get Lucky with a few Flower Pots!

My Lucky Gold Leaf Flower pots were the perfect centerpiece for the dining room table – click over for the tutorial on how to gold leaf these pots and DIY your stencil. I have a little crush on the the river rocks in the arrangement; I made them with Elmer’s glitter glue–see the tutorial and kid craft project here!

5 Minute Scrapbook Paper Bunting

A few little buntings made from scrapbook paper, twine and the ribbon I used on the mason jars took about 5 minutes to make, but they added the perfect pop to the room.

After all my work was done, I stood back and decided I needed to make  celebratory drink. The kids were about to come home from school, so it had to be something they could have, too so I whipped up a few Shamrock floats in mason jars with cute little straw flags.

Come back Monday to see how to make those! You can see the tutorial for the Good Luck Charms (the “lucky you” gold coins) here.

It took about an hour to put my  St. Patricks Day home decor together and up, but I’m already enjoying it every time I walk through the door. Simple is a good thing!
