Ways to Show Your Family You Love Them

This February, use this clever idea to show your family you love them for almost free.

Wisdom, unfortunately, takes time and retrospect. For all the big things I feel I do for my family, it seems few of those actions get remembered. (“Mom you never do anything fun with us!” Gah!!) But the small things I do that I think are of little consequence always seem to be the ones that are talked about for ages. I really think I need to skip the big stuff that is forgotten and do more of the little things that are meaningful–like these Valentine hearts. They are a super easy in-a-minute cheap way to show your family you love them during February.

I found this idea trolling the internet, so won’t take full credit for it. (I can’ remember where I saw it!) All you have to do is cut out a paper heart for each day in February. If you’re not able to do that, they do sell pre-made hearts at the store this time of year. Every day, write in a heart one thing you love about your son/daughter/husband/wife/significant other and gently tape it to their bedroom door. The door will be filled with lovely affirmations by the end of the month.

When I started this for my children, I truly thought they wouldn’t care about it…but I was wrong. They were so excited, it inspired my kids to do the same for me. Which is great–because now I feel loved, too!

So materials for this quick family building project: red paper, sharpie marker, scotch tape, and a few nice thoughts. Squishy warm loving feelings: priceless.

It's the little things isn't it! Even though my kids are adults now I think they'd still appreciate this. Thank you for the reminder.
