Bake Sale Recipe Winner: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Cupcakes

If you’ve ever had to participate in a bake sale, you know there is more to it then just whipping up your famous Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Cupcake recipe…you’ve got to package them up as well! Not to worry, I’m here to help. If you don’t have your very own famous bake sale recipe, you’re going to be very excited about this one. As for the packaging, I’ve got a pretty unique bake sale packaging idea that is going to get all your cupcakes sold first!

Adding a bit of flavor to our cupcakes and frosting is the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup creamer from International Delight. It’s great for adding an extra bit of yumminess to your desserts.

Bake Sale Recipe: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Cupcakes

Cupcakes from scratch are my favorite. Admittedly, they take a bit longer to make which is why I keep a few boxed mixes on hand for cupcake emergencies. To amp up any boxed mix, just replace the water with International Delight Reese’s creamer (or one of their other delish offerings!)

Cupcake Ingredients

  • Chocolate boxed cake mix
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • International Delight Reese’s creamer to replace water
  • Vegetable oil as required
  • Eggs as required

Follow the directions on the box to bake up your cupcakes!

Peanut Butter Frosting Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3-1/2 cup International Delight Reese’s creamer

Cream butter and peanut butter until combined in the mixer. Turn off the mixer and add powdered sugar.  Turn the mixer on low until the powdered sugar is combined. Add vanilla and 1/3 cup creamer and blend on high for 2 minutes. If the frosting is not pliant enough to be pushed through a icing bag, add creamer a tablespoon at a time until the right consistency.

Chocolate Frosting Ingredients (optional)

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3-1/2 cup International Delight Reese’s creamer

Cream butter in the mixer. Turn off the mixer and add powdered sugar and cocoa powder.  Turn the mixer on low until the powdered sugar is combined with the butter. Add vanilla and 1/3 cup creamer and blend on high for 2 minutes. If the frosting is not pliant enough to be pushed through a icing bag, add creamer a tablespoon at a time until the right consistency.

If having these cupcakes as-is, you’ll pipe a layer of chocolate frosting (optional) on the cooled cupcakes, then a tall peak of peanut butter frosting on the chocolate. Garnish with a mini peanut butter cup.

Packaging Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Cupcakes

If you’re going to package these cupcake up for individual servings like at a bake sale, it’s immensely easier to assemble the cupcakes inside the packaging instead of dropping them in. I love clear plastic cups for this purpose.

Bake sale cupcake packaging Materials:

  • Cupcakes
  • Clear plastic cups
  • Colored chocolate candies
  • Gold cupcake wrappers
  • Gold glitter tape
  • Gold glitter bows

Get started with the base! Clear plastic cup + colored candies + gold wrapper + cupcake.

Pipe on some of the chocolate frosting if you choose to use it. These are still awesome with just the peanut butter frosting!

Pipe on your peanut butter frosting.

Add a peanut butter cup for garnish.

Place another plastic cup upside down on top of the cupcake cup.

Wrap a piece of glitter tape around the cups to seal them together.

Add a cute little paper bow to the top. You can buy these (especially this time of year!) or make them out of paper.
