Valentines day brings on all sorts of feelings, parties and celebrations of love. For most kids, it’s a day about folding up and handing out valentines to classmates and scorings some valentines candy. But for a few, there is puppy love. That little kid crush that is just so sweet and innocent, you can’t help but smile at it.
My son Brennan has insisted his girlfriend is Ruby, a precious and firey little girl that we adore. And she total,y feels the same way about Brennan – her mother reports she is already planning a wedding! Brennan is way ok with that plan, too. But since he is four, we have convinced him that he might want to it a few years before he goes through with any vows. For now, Ruby as a “girlfriend” mostly means that he likes to hold her hand on the playground.
This valentines day Brennan and ruby got a little party just for the two of them. I really love how these pictures show just how much they like each other!
With such an intimate affair, a small selection of desserts was in order. Two homemade treats, heart shaped poundcakes with whipped cream and raspberries and puppy love sugar cookies were serve along side semi-homemade snack cake hearts with sprinkles.
Puppy chow for a little puppy love gives a nod to our doggie theme– i used some cellophane bags, fry containers, and wrapped them in after bottle wraps for a bit of decoration.
The centerpieces are part of the printable package now available for instant download in the shop. With the pack, A vase and a few. Bamboo skewers are all you need to put together one of your own.
Ruby had a little gift of her own to give Brennan using the “doggie” bags I made. You can download the printables here. You’ll just need a white handled paper bag after you print and cut them out to make the bag. I added a bit of ribbon to make it extra cute.
And what is valentines day without valentines mailboxes to collect them in? Using a gable box and these free printables, we created and decorated little dog houses for all out love letters to go in.
Puppy love is so sweet–thanks to Brennan and Ruby for celebrating with us!

This is absolutely adorable! The "puppy love" statement is accurate for the party goers. They look so sweet together, and in their fancy outfits. I would love if you linked this up to my 14 Days of Valentine Inspired Crafts Linky Party - https://eyeloveknots.blogspot.com/2015/02/14-days-of-valentine-inspired-craft.html.
