15 Minute Reindeer Food Favor and Free Printable

15 Minute Reindeer Food Favor and Free Printable

It’s time for another round of Craft Lightning with Country Chic Cottage and 30 Minute Crafts! Since we’re preparing for the holiday season, I thought it would be fun to make one of my children’s favorite traditions and make it easily accessible. Right before going to bed on Christmas Eve for the past five years, my little ones have traipsed out onto the lawn barefoot in their jammies (we live in Florida so that’s doable) and dusted the lawn with reindeer food. To me, it’s just that extra little bit of magic to their season, and an easy thing to do for them while they still believe. Making reindeer food is pretty simple, it takes about 15 minutes at most, and you likely already have all the ingredients in your pantry and craft closet. To top them off and make them Santa official, I’ve got a free printable reindeer food bag topper for you.

How to make Reindeer Food

Reindeer food assembly

Really, you’re going to want to skip putting each and every item for the reindeer food in bowls before you put them together…that’s just a whole lot more work for you. I put three spoonfuls each of the oats and rice krispies into my cellophane bag, then a spoonful of sugar (to make it sweet!) and a spoonful of sparkle (so the reindeer can see it!).

Once you have it all in the bag, you can pinch closed the top and shake it to combine the ingredients.

Using the Free Printable Reindeer Food Tag and a Cellophane Bag Topper Tutorial

If you’ve never used a cellophane bag topper, here’s a quick tutorial. First, you print out your free printable file onto white cardstock. Cut out your topper.

Fold the topper in half.

Roll the top of your cellpohane bag down so the width of the rolled portion is about the width of a staple, making sure to get most of the air out of your bag as you’re rolling. Do this part carefully, as any wild rolling will poke out the sides of your cellophane topper.

Place the rolled top of your bag in the fold of your topper. You’ll want to place the bag against the back flap. Staple the bag to the paper on both ends, but staple it so the bended ends go to the inside. It’s an easy step for random reindeer food injury prevention.

This super fast Christmas craft is a cinch to make, and will be more than worth the effort for the joy it will bring! Be sure to visit The Country Chic Cottage and 30 Minute Crafts for more Craft Lightning projects!
