ACHILLEA FILIPENDULINA CLOTH OF GOLD
Wednesday 9th of October 2024
Cultivation Advice for Achillea Filipendulina "Cloth of Gold"
Achillea filipendulina "Cloth of Gold" is a hardy perennial with a mounded growth habit and dark green, deeply cut foliage. The plant produces 24-inch tall flower stalks in early summer with showy blooms that attract bees and butterflies. These flowers are excellent for fresh or dried arrangements. It can thrive in various conditions, including poor soil, and is heat-tolerant.
Sowing Instructions:
Sowing Period: February to June or September to October. Under Glass: Sow seeds thinly and evenly on the surface of fine seed compost in pots or trays. Cover the seeds lightly with compost or vermiculite to allow light for germination. Germination Conditions: Germination occurs in 7-14 days at temperatures between 15-20°C. Seedling Care:
Once seedlings are large enough to handle, prick them out and transplant into pots. Gradually harden off the plants by acclimatizing them to outdoor conditions after the last spring frost. Planting Out:
Timing: Transplant into the garden in the second season, ensuring they are spaced 30-40 cm apart. Soil & Light Requirements: Plant in well-drained soil in a location with full sun. This variety is durable and adaptable, making it a great choice for a low-maintenance, pollinator-friendly garden!
