Glam Christmas Cupcake Toppers : A Season to Sparkle

Christmas-tree-cupcake-topper-tutorial-5

Welcome to day 2 of the Season to Sparkle blog hop! This is where the good stuff comes in–the tutorials where you learn how to make all the neat stuff in the party. My donation was these glam little Christmas tree cupcake toppers. They’re cute, and they’re pretty easy to make.

And they love getting beauty shots done.

There is so much flexibility in the design of these toppers, you can really do a million versions!

Materials to Make Glam Christmas Tree Cupcake Toppers

  • Cone template
  • Gold Glitter paper (thin wrapping paper will work best)
  • Black glitter paper (thick cardstock)
  • Gold wrapping paper
  • Tiny jingle bells
  • Tiny black beads
  • Bamboo skewers, cut in 6 inch pieces
  • Gold and black washi tape

make a cone

The basis of every single Christmas tree I made was the cone. Print the cone template to cardstock, and cut out the different sized cones. On the back side of your papers, trace the cones in all different sizes then cut them out.

To form a cone, roll the paper around to make a cone shape, working the paper a little bit so it remembers the cone shape when you let it go. Run a bead of glue (I used hot glue for speed) on one edge of the cone, then roll into the cone shape and secure.

Christmas-tree-cupcake-topper-tutorial-16To make the double tree, just slide the cone a very short way down the top of the skewer when you glue it in. Add a second smaller cone to the tip.

gold black treeExperiment with all the cones you cut out and put them in lots of different combinations! You can even layer them for a neat banded look.

Meet Paula

My father came home from a trip for work when I was a little girl toting a huge (to me) book of fairy tales. I was instantly smitten with the beautiful illustrations and the stories that came alive from those worn pages. My favorite was always the frog prince…my mother read it to me over and over (and over.) Read More…
