The fun and cool products that continue to be released by uber creative companies make working with parties pretty exciting. After trying out personalized plates from Create Ur Plate – I’ve got a new favorite piece to add to my party arsenal. The brilliance of this product is that any graphic can be used to make custom dishware. They offer both disposable custom dishware and glass plates that are reusable from event to event. I tried out both varieties and was quite pleased with each one!
I love the “Merry Christmas to our deer friends” design I whipped up — I was going to use them to give out Christmas cookies on this year, but decided they were amusing and could work well enough in an elegant setting like dinner! Plus, my husband will get one more chance to see his beloved deer silhouette in his dinnerware. (Really, deer heads are the only design he has issue with; this is good-natured fun to rib him about it!) After Christmas, I’m excited I will be able to change the deer out for whatever party I have coming up!
Making your own Custom Plates with Create Ur Plate
The Create Ur Plate site is super user friendly. They have tons of tutorials to help you out if you get a little confused in the process and they are eager to answer any questions. Basically what you do is pick the kind of plates you want–glass or plastic disposable–and then you create the design to go on the plate. The design comes to you as a stick-on cling, so if you choose glass plates, you have the option of changing up your plates for every party you throw.
While I uploaded graphics for designs I made myself, they have a huge library of patterns to choose from that you can customize. On this plate I added “From the Leatherbury family 2014.” We’re going to use them for disposable dessert dishes at the annual family Christmas party this year. If you really love to put photos on your dishes, they’ve got plenty of designs like that to pick from, too! At the end of the design/customization process, they give you a quick preview of the products you’re making before printing and shipping them out. I always love that reassurance that my product is going to look the way I envision it.
I had a lot of fun sorting through the design library and coming up with ideas for using them. Every year, I bake about 30 dozen cookies to give out to friends, and I couldn’t help but make the ones we give to our especially close friends a little extra special. I added the family name to this plate, and after the gifted cookies are done, it will be perfect for the kids to use as their plate to leave cookies out for Santa.
While I was compensated for this post, my thoughts opinions, and absolute delight with the Create UR Plate products is entirely my own and uninfluenced.
