This post about this quick after school snack has been sponsored by Cool Whip. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
There are more than a few instances I can immediately recall where a quick snack consisted of a big dollop of frozen Cool Whip with a bit of chocolate sauce drizzled over the top. I like my sweets! Cool Whip is already a good thing, but people, they have gone and made it even better with the new Cool Whip Oreo Mix-Ins. It’s all the fluffy goodness of Cool Whip with crushed up Oreo cookies already mixed in, and I might be in love. It’s as perfect for standing in front of the fridge and eating it out of the container as it is for making up a super quick after school snack.
But, you know, you may not even make it to putting together a little recipe with the Oreo Mix-Ins. I bought three containers to try to come up with something fun to show you all, and the first one didn’t make it anywhere. The Cool Whip Oreo Mix-Ins has a light and airy texture that makes it oh-so-good. The kids and I sat around the kitchen island with spoons and goofy grins totally demolishing a whole container in a sitting. Not a recipe was attempted with that first bowl of Oreo Mix-Ins, but good memories were definitely made that day.
The second bowl did fare better, and I dare say the kids were even crazier about the new recipe than they were eating the Cool Whip out of a bowl.
Quick After School Snack Recipe: Cool whip mix-ins chocolate sandwiches
When I say quick, I mean like less than three minutes kind of fast!! You only need two ingredients to make these, the sprinkles are totally optional (but make it look much more fun.
Ingredients:
- Cool Whip Mix-Ins, Oreo, thawed
- Chocolate Pizzelle waffle cookies
- Crushed Oreo Cookies
- Sprinkles (optional)
Pizzelles are a style of thin waffle cookies and you can find them in just about any grocery store in both plain and chocolate varieties. My original intent was to slather the Oreo Mix-Ins over some regular breakfast-type chocolate waffles, but they didn’t make it through the last step–freezing–very well. Plain warmed up waffles are equally awesome covered in Oreo Mix-Ins, just don’t stick the concoction in the freezer as eating frozen waffles isn’t that yummy.
Super easy to put these little treats together. Take a few spoonfuls of the Oreo Mix-Ins and spread it over one of the pizzelle waffle cookies.
Top with another pizzelle to make a waffle whipped cream sandwich.
If you’re going to use crushed Oreos, smoosh the waffle cookie sandwich together a bit so the Oreo Mix-Ins eeks out the sides a little bit. Gently dip the sides of the sandwich into a small bowl of crushed Oreos, turning the sandwich so you get the entire middle of the sandwich covered. The Oreo will stick to the bit of Cool Whip that has snuck out the sides of your sandwich. If you’re feeling totally ambitious, you could also stick some sprinkles to the sides of your sandwich!
Lay all your whipped cream cookie sandwiches out on a tray and pop them in the freezer for 20 minutes or so. It doesn’t take all that long for the Oreo Mix-Ins to re-freeze.
Pull them out and serve this quick after school snack to all your very favorite people. They remind me of an ice cream sandwich, but better! And being a bit home-made, they’ll come with a little bit of love when you serve them up.
Oreo Mix-Ins are 35 calories a serving…and I know we’ll be keeping a container or two in the house for snacks and treats!
