In the last few years, I think I’ve mentioned a time or two I am fairly active and like marathons and triathlons and those sort of boring things. I won’t make you yawn with the details, but the bottom line of all that activity was the calories out usually ended up way more than calories in. While I was training, I seriously behaved like a fast moving garbage disposal and ate what I wanted.
BUT, as we all know, life happens and sometimes exercise and eating plans go awry and the calories do start to count. I don’t know about you, but once my kids got out of school this year every one of those healthy exercise habits I had went totally and completely out. the. window. I suffered a complete exercise fail, and did more 12 ounce curls and sunbathing than weight lifting and laps. On top of that, I never met an ice cream/candy bar/margarita/block of cheese I didn’t love all summer.
The first thing I changed when the kids went back to school was what I ate, but a little at a time. I have a massive sweet tooth, so a cold turkey plunge to no sugar whatsoever always ends badly.
While I was at Publix, I spotted these portion-controlled candies by Weight Watchers that do just the trick to satisfying a sugar craving. Replacing the foods that probably weren’t doing me any favors, like the ice cream and full candy bars, with a convenient and yummy Weight Watchers Mint Patty or Pecan Crown has been a good move.
Sometimes, though, I do find myself with a bit larger craving than a a single package can satisfy, so I use this snack recipe trick! Note: I am a mom on the go, and day-to-day I don’t have a lot of time for fussy. Things have to be on the grab and go level, and this recipe works so well for that.
Chocolate Caramel Bananas
- 1 Weight Watcher Pecan Crown
- 1/2 banana
Slice the banana in half. Chop up the Pecan crown, then sprinkle over the banana.
Simple, right? It’s sweet, but more filling than just the chocolate on its own and makes a great dessert.
Weight Watchers offers more than just candy as grab and go snacks–stop by your local Publix to check them out!
