{Real Party} Little Pink Birdies

{Real Party} Little Pink Birdies

One of my favorite customers asked for a pink birdie theme for her very dear friend’s baby shower a few months ago, and by the time we were done, the theme became one of my favorites. So when I had the opportunity to throw a baby shower for a friend, I knew exactly which design to use. These sweet little pink birdies were such a cute design for this shower, and leant themselves to lots of inspiration for decor!

The dessert table I created in a palette of soft pinks…there is just something elegant and girly about this color! My favorite part by far are the hair clips and hair bands that were made by Tara at Three Little Bows to decorate my candy jars and bird cage.

On the table were a range of desserts for all tastes…raspberry mousse with fresh whipped cream, petite fours, meringues, cupcakes, and chocolate brownie truffles. In creating menus for any of my parties–large or small–I try to keep the made from scratch items to two or three. In this case, one and a half! I made the raspberry mousse,  took a shortcut on the truffles, and purchased the remainder of the items. The cupcakes I requested plain, and decorated myself with gumpaste hydrangeas from Sweet Petal Bakery.

For the savory food, a plant stand was used to uniquely present the crudites and dip. Pita chips were served in snack boxes to accompany the roasted red pepper hummus. Tiny quiches and fresh fruit rounded out the savory offerings for this mid-afternoon (and pre-superbowl!) shower.

I also like to recreate spaces in my house for special events; I’m not afraid to move furniture! We cleared out the front rooms to accommodate tables and chairs for guests to sit for games, appetizers and sweets.

In a stroke of luck, I found my collection of vintage linens that I thought I had lost in my last move. I started with those as my base layer–and then collected every white plate I could find in the house to have enough to serve all my guests. I prefer glassware and silver when I can help it! The centerpieces started with a square serving platter. I made the hydrangea flower balls using styrofoam, a Martha Stewart punch, and corsage pins.

Babycakes & Decor was gracious enough to send a little treat for the mom-to-be using the printable cupcake wrappers and toppers – burp cloths and wash clothes shaped into little cupcakes and candy shapes! The mom was delighted, and they were ridiculously cute on display. Pom Flair provided the beautiful pink pom garland that leant a perfect festive accent to the room.

I'm thinking about using bird cages as wedding decorations. I've looked all over for small bird cages like what you used in your table centerpieces, and I've come across a few...but NOTHING like what you've got shown. Can you tell me where you purchased yours? I absolutely love them. The ones I've found will work, but they're rather plain. Please please please help!!!

I found them at Micheals in the dollar bins and spray painted the colors of the party. :)

Hello! My name is Fernanda and I'm in Brazil. I love your work! It's too beautiful! I wonder what is the name of the font that you used to write the tags. I'm doing the baby shower for a friend and she really liked this font used. Thank you!
