American Girl Tea Party Ideas

American Girl Tea Party Ideas

One of the free projects available with the Cricut Maker is this pretty little tea pot and tea cup banner. I added a few roses to make it even cuter!

American Girl Tea Party Menu

As I said before, we didn’t go overboard with food and sweets, and the kids devoured them and were happy about it all the same! On our menu:

  • Cucumber sandwiches (recipe here)
  • Chocolate chip muffins (purchased)
  • Strawberry jam croissants (purchased in a tube, added jam)
  • Petite fors (recipe here)
  • Strawberry cupcakes (recipe here)
  • Hot chocolate

Cucumber sandwiches are the quintessential tea party accoutrement. I’ve been making this particular recipe for YEARS. You can see it the recipe here.

The petite fors are so easy to make. I use a frozen pound cake with a sugar glaze and a few little sprinkles on top. I used this same recipe to make some spider petite fors and you can see the complete how to here, just switch the spider for a few pink sprinkles.

These are acutally MINI strawberry cupcakes. I made them in ketchup cups, no muffin tin required. They’re the perfect little treat!

American Girl Doll Tea Party Activities

For every party we have at home, we always make sure to have a few things for the kids to do while they are there. The younger ones will often just go make their own fun adn ignore your carefully planned activities. The 7 to 10 crowd, however, will most certainly hang around with any planned fun.

Here are a few things that you can do to entertain your tea partiers:

  • Make bracelets
  • Make food, etc. for American Girl dolls
  • Decorate tea party hats (for dolls and girls)
  • Make tutus and shirts for dolls (and girls if you like!)

We made tutus and shirts with our guests. A piece of elastic and some cut tulle is all you need for the tutus. I ordered some 18 inch doll shirts on Amazon to iron stars on to and picked up a few $3 t-shirts at Walmart that matched for the girls. The project took about 20 minutes to do, and the girls loved that they matched their dolls!

How do you create the star and letters for the pink backdrop? Are there images you can download for the cricut maker? If so, before I buy one I wanted to find these images.
