You should consult your physician before consuming Fre if you are pregnant or have any health concerns regarding alcohol. The following content is intended for readers who are 21 or older.
9 months of carefully watching what you eat and what you drink can feel like an eternity when you’re pregnant. Especially if you get cravings for sushi…or a glass of wine. But there are clever people in the world that empathized with the plight of pregnant mamas everywhere and came up with the alcohol-free wine Fre that is a-ok to drink.
And to make momma-to-be even happier, I have a fantastic recipe for pineapple raspberry wine shushes you can make with Fre! Fre makes a great base for mocktails. I plan to whip this baby shower drink up for my sister-in-law in a few months for her shower–can’t wait to see what she thinks!
When you make fancy drinks, sometimes it just feels like you might need a fancy place to put them when they’re served. I have you covered there, too.
To fill up a lot of space really quickly, Use paper fans and tissue paper tassels to deck out the baby shower drink bar. My new favorite this is this (affil. Link) fringe cutter. I made that whole garland in about half an hour with it. ((Amazing!!!))
Our baby shower drink bar got a few pretty accents with some geometric gem inspired graphics. A colorful sign is always a great addition to a food or drink bar. You can write something sentimental or give directions on what your guests are supposed to do with what you’ve prepared for them.
Misplaced drinks are a common party problem. Personally, I think drink markers are one of those things that are better to make disposable so you don’t have to store them. Paper gems on gold curling ribbon were perfect for marking our Fre wine slushies. Keep your empty glasses on a nice tray until you serve them and you’ll instantly make your bar look a little fancier.
Now that we’ve made momma wait for a few minutes for that not-so-forbidden beverage, I’m sure she’s ready for this recipe!
Pineapple Raspberry Wine Slushie Recipe
Fre comes in a variety of flavored including Merlot, White Zinfindel, Moscato and a red blend. I used Chardonnay in this recipe, but I think it would be just as good with a sweeter Moscato!
Makes 4 small servings
- 2 cups Chardonnay Fre wine
- 1/3 cup pineapple juice
- 5 oz frozen raspberries
- 3 cups ice
- 1/4 simple syrup (optional; add if you want a sweeter drink)
Place all the ingredients in the blender and purée until smooth. Pour into four wine glasses and garnish with pineapple wedges as desired.
Curious about Fre? This alchol-free wine really does taste and smell just like the real thing. The wine goes through a de-acoholization process and less than one half of one percent of alcohol remains in the wine. The process involves a spinning cone column that removes the almost all the alcohol and half the calories. (I have a chocolate cake I’d like to try that on!)
