Banana bread was something I used to make out of necessity at my house. When we first got married, my husband would buy big bunches of bananas and then pretend like he was going to eat them…so of course we always had big bunches of black bananas on the counter. After a while I did wise up, because I did (finally) figure out he was just doing that so I’d make my banana bread recipe for him. It worked out, as I had the perfect excuse to refine my banana bread recipe over all those years–19 if you’re counting.

I only have oat milk on hand. Would that work for this recipe? I imagine oat milk doesn’t “sour” the same as dairy milk.

I've never tried with sour cream in this particular recipe! I don't know what the reduction in liquid would do to the moisture of the bread, but sounds like a fun experiment :)

I make banana bread all the time. This one was a hit! So moist and delicious! I use lemon juice to sour my milk, but that is the only thing I changed. Delicious!

This is the ONLY banana bread recipe I’ve used for years! It makes a perfectly delicious loaf every time! Tonight I replaced flour with almond flour, and used erythriol in place of sugar - for a lower carbohydrate version. It came out wonderfully!!!

I'm going to have to try with almond flour! Sadly, I found I had a gluten allergy a few years ago ((long after I created this recipe)), and would love to eat banana bread with abandon again! Thanks for the tip!

This recipe is fantastic!!! I have made it several times. I usually double the recipe as it doesn’t last long in my house. It is my favorite banana bread recipe and my co-workers ask me to bake this and bring it to work. I try to eat healthier so I traded the 1/2 cup butter for 1/4 cup coconut oil and 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce and skip creaming the butter/sugar step. My 14 yr old daughter asks for butterscotch banana bread so I add 3/4 cup butterscotch chips for her and remove the nuts since she is allergic to them.

I have not made mini-loaves yet. Your presentation for gifts is very professional. How much time should I bake the mini-loaves?
