St. Patrick’s Day Cocktail Ideas

St. Patrick’s Day Cocktail Ideas

Here is one last St. Patrick’s Day idea for you and what you may want to do with a giant bag of Lucky Charms marshmallows. We are getting into the spirit of the party with two St. Patrick’s Day cocktail ideas – one for you guys that don’t drink beer but want the green drinks, and one I like to call Irish with a buzz.

I don’t think there is a country I have enjoyed visiting more than Ireland. It was purely a magical experience being there. (I was there for my 40th birthday, so safe to say we celebrated a little bit.) And being gluten-free, I had to sample the whiskeys and such while I was there instead of the Guinness.

I did not see Bailey’s Irish cream on any of the menus in Ireland, so I am thinking it’s probably an American invention that gives a nod to Ireland. But that’s OK! I love the way we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day here in America, too.

Something us Americans inexplicably like to do to celebrate St. Pat’s is turn our drinks green. You can do this with food coloring, or with the right kind of liqour. Creme de menthe is one of those, and it happens to go marvelously with Bailey’s Irish cream and I used it in this first St. Patrick’s Day cocktail idea I’m calling an Irish Slow Jig.

And because I’m still working through a giant bag of Lucky Charms marshmallows, a magically delicious marshmallow topping it’s really just the thing this drink needs to top it off.

Green drinks for St. Patrick's Day!

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Bailey's® Irish cream
  • 1 oz creme de cacao (clear or colored)
  • 1 oz green creme de menthe

Instructions

Shake together with ice until chilled. Pour over ice in a highball or stemmed glass. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of colorful Lucky Charms marshmallows. Alternatively, a peppermint patty is a wonderful garnish.

I down more than my fair share of iced coffee, and I must say this is a marvelous way to caffeinate. It’s also a great way to take your celebratory beverage to a St. Pat’s street party!

Iced coffee made Irish -- caffeinate and celebrate!

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Bailey's® Irish cream
  • 1 oz creme de cacao (clear or colored)
  • 8 oz brewed coffee, cooled

Instructions

Brew a 6-8 ounce cup of coffee and allow it to cool for about 15 minutes. This will keep from melting your ice immediately and watering down your drink!

Fill a pint glass with ice. Pour the Bailey's Irish cream and creme de cocoa into the glass. Top with the cooled coffee and stir.

Optionally, garnish with a dollop of whipped cream and a few Lucky Charms marshmallows.

Until next time, Sláinte!

Very nice! I'd use it on my hen party! By the way, I'd love to hear any venue birmingham credential. Thanks in advance for the tips!
