Bunny Butt Terra Cotta Pot Pen Holder Teacher Gift Idea

Bunny Butt Terra Cotta Pot Pen Holder Teacher Gift Idea

My kids’ teachers work hard, and like most teachers, are largely underappreciated. When I have a chance to send in a little gift to them to give them a small thank you, I take it. For Easter this year, they’re getting a cute little bunny butt terra cotta pot pen holder. It’s a great teacher gift idea because it is largely disposable. All the cute little bunny butts are attached to pens, and as the pens run out, the craft project can be tossed. As long as it lasts, though, it will be super cute!

How to make a Bunny Terra Cotta Pot Pen Holder

This project is a Craft Lightning project! That means it’s doable in 15 minutes or less. If you’re doing a million pens, your milage on the time may vary, but the few I’m sticking in make it super quick. There are affiliate links ahead–they cost you nothing and help keep content on this site free.

Bunny Butt Terra Cotta Pot Materials:

  • 3 inch pom-poms (buy them here)
  • Small pom-poms for tails
  • 4 inch dowel rod
  • Felt to match the pom-poms
  • Small terra cotta pot
  • Assorted pens
  • Ribbon (optional)
  • Coffee beans
  • Hot Glue
  • Paint (optional)
  • Happy Easter free printable circle (download here)

If you’re going the colored terra cotta pot route, paint that first so it’s dry by the time you’re ready to add your bunny butts.

I liked the finish of a bit of ribbon on the pot –this is a colored raffia. A little hot glue holds it in place.

Cut feet out of felt, assembling the feet with little pads on the bottom. This is a free-hand project; you really just need to do a few ovals and circles!

Glue a little tail to the 3 inch pom. Glue the feet of the bunny to the large pom-pom.

Glue the large pom pom to the top of the dowel rod.

Once your pot is dry (if you’ve painted it) fill it with coffee beans.

Stick your pens and large bunny into the pot. I added a few paper leaves and carrots I picked up at Target’s dollar spot. You can accessorize however you want!

I also added this “Hoppy Easter” 3 inch circle to the pot as a gift tag–just glue it to a dowel and stick it in the coffee beans!
