9. Puppy Party Games – The Agility Course
At the “Walk the dog” station, set up a dog agility course for the kids to run through, just like the AKC does for dogs! I used things I had around the house already:
- Cones to weave around
- Pop-up tunnels to crawl through
- Hula-hoops to run over
- “Hurdles” make with scrap wood to jump over
- A ball to kick
- Balance beam – a board laid on the ground to walk across (no need to get it off the ground with little ones!)
Use three or four of these to set up an agility course and let them run! You can time them as they go through, or just let it be a fun as-you-want activity. At our party, no one wanted to just run through once–they did laps through this course. And took great naps later.
10. Adopt a Puppy Activity
As an activity, we have the kids “adopt” a puppy by making one out of a paper plate and paper pieces. Older kids can cut them out themselves; younger kids can have everything pre-cut to just do the assembly work.
A few paper plates, colored card stock, glue sticks and markers make this an inexpensive craft to do. And inexpensive means perfect for staying on budget!
Decor can also be done on a shoe string, but still be Fido Fabulous! You can even make your party decorations from recyclables. Read on!
